Visitations

December 6, 2009 by anado 1 Comment

…an incredible amount of absolutely cool people have been showing up at our doorstep lately.  I love the energies that find their way here.  I remember years ago seeing the film "Children of Paradise"…a french film from the forties…it of course was subtitled and one of the recurring pieces of dialog was:  "The World is a Small Place for Those Who Love"…it feels so true when I see some of the beauties that show up here.  Yesterday we had a great lunch on one of the patios with folks from, Northern and Southern  California, Austin, and San Miguel…what a treat…then today some artists from Ohio, Michigan and Colorado showed up…it was like meeting old friends…what a gift…Gracias a La Vida!

Busy…Yes

November 24, 2009 by anado 3 Comments

It has been a busy time…this blog is stuffed somewhere back in there…and there is a there…there.  Working on a number of design things…art of course…stocking and creating more necklaces…our annual Art and Whimsy Sale is in three weeks.  So things are moving along.  At the same time, I continue to watch my obsessive mind's tendency to grab on to a certain person or situation and run with it…this old serpentine mind of mine…This old mind of mine…let it go…I am including the Kingsolver design I did…it was a lot of work…Ah…Life!  By the way…this is the final design…I noticed that I had posted an earlier design…

This Lot in Life…

November 14, 2009 by anado 1 Comment

…I have recently, through the weird grace of Facebook, been reunited in the cyber channels with a number of friends from the distant past.  I find it interesting where these encounters take me.  My overused mind drifts into the  abundant slip stream of the past and the most forgotten of memories reappear in their kerplunk-ness…some recollections are so far down there that hopefully they will remain unrevealed. So be it.  Ultimately, however, I am reminded of the tremendous blessings that accompany friendship.  I am also reminded of all the running I did to avoid those blessings.  Through the streets I wondered…past fairy tails and acid flashbacks…to the feet of a sublime teacher who reminded me to "come back, Anado"…return to the source.  In this "return" I meet some of the faces that touched my heart long ago…I am reminded of the good and bad times that brought me to this present moment.  I remember years ago when I was such a young fool, Sufi Whirling in a disco called 12 West down near the piers in the Village…I wanted so much to stand out from the crowd…as time progresses I realize that acknowledgment ultimately lies within…in acceptance…and so the whirling continues…sometimes I advertise…but oftentimes in the most creative moments…I am moved to tearful gratitude to the One who encouraged me to "come back, Anado"…that is where I meet the Silence…

Still Fab After All These Years…

November 12, 2009 by anado 4 Comments

…Hilary and her sister Joanna came out for a visit the other day.  These women are London girls through and through…I just had to post their photo.  Joanna is Hilary's younger sister and lives on Portebello Road in formerly Swinging London and Hilary lives here in Mexico for the time being.  Hilary just lost her longtime partner and Joanna came from London to be with her.  John was a great man of huge intellect and equally humongous heart…we will miss him.  Hats off to my London Girls…you have taken henna to the next level!

Sneak Preview

November 11, 2009 by anado Leave a Comment

Here is the design that I am doing for a literary event here in San Miguel next February.  I read the book which I absolutely enjoyed:  "The Lacuna" by Barbara Kingsolver.  The NY Times Sunday Review of Books gave it a glowing thumbs up and I agree.  The symbols in the design reveal themselves if you read the book.  The story takes place mostly in Mexico with brief but lovely patches in North Carolina and Washington DC…Read the book!
